Staff Report
The event-management firm, IDK Events, who are tasked with organizing Solvang’s month-long Julefest celebration in December are asking the business community for input on what the event means to them. IDK Events will host a workshop for local businesses.
The workshop will be at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Hotel Corque in Solvang. They want local businesses to bring questions, suggestions and comments. They want to meet and hear about what Julefest means for them. IDK Events will also provide all of the merchants who attend promotional tools to help promote their business specifically during Julefest. These tools will include Julefest artwork, graphics, and pre-made social media posts.
Additionally, IDK is seeking feedback from the general public via a survey. The survey is open to anyone and is available at www.solvangjulefest.org
The Solvang City Council hired IDK Events during a special meeting Sept. 25. IDK subsequently hired former SCVB employee Daniel Lahr as an Event Manager to ensure continuity with local Danish traditions
IDK produces street fairs and festivals such as the Union Street Fair and the annual San Francisco Pride Parade. Lahr, a Santa Ynez Valley native and formerly special programs manager for the Solvang Conference and Visitors Bureau, has organized the Julefest event for the past two years and created several of its previous events, including the Nisse Adventure, Glogg Contest and VIP tours.
IDK Events will be bringing back traditional Solvang Julefest events, as well as bringing all new, state-of-the-art events to wow visitors and residents. As these events are currently being finalized, learn in greater detail about them and how to participate by signing up on their website at www.solvangjulefest.org.
