Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s officials are hoping for peaceful ending to a situation involving a possible suicidal subject in the 500 block of Avenue of Flags in Buellton.
“At approximately 6:15 p.m. tonight Sheriff’s deputies responded to an apartment to a report of a suicidal subject. When deputies arrived, the subject refused to come out. Based on information gathered at the scene, deputies were concerned he was a danger to himself and others,” said Kelly Hoover, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Department.
In an abundance of caution the apartment building was evacuated and an emergency notifications were sent out to residents in the surrounding area advising them to shelter in place.
Deputies are on scene and are attempting to make contact with the subject inside and resolve the situation peacefully. More updates will be posted as we get them.
