The Rey Fire is now at 21,172 acres Sunday evening, according to fire officials. Containment is now at 20 percent. There are more than 700 crews from all around the state helping to fight the fire.
The weather forecasted is to remain hot and dry through the week. Fire behavior is expected to be extreme with large plumes of smoke possible and the east side of the fire has the most potential to spread, fire officials report.
An evacuation order remains in effect for the Paradise Road recreation areas, parts of Stagecoach Road and the Los Prietos Boys Camp. Paradise Road remains closed. Campgrounds will remain closed through the weekend. Highway 154 is open to traffic.
The fire started Thursday afternoon just before 3 p.m. near the White Rock Campgrounds, said Mike Eliason of Santa Barbara County Fire.
