The schedule of spring classes offered through Allan Hancock College Community Education is now available online for viewing. Visit www.hancockcollege.edu and select Class Search. Spring classes begin the week of Jan. 23, 2017, and are offered throughout the community and at all Allan Hancock College campus locations.
Students can register online for spring classes beginning Dec. 5, or receive registration assistance in person at Community Education (bldg. S) on the Santa Maria campus. New or returning students will need to complete the CCCApply application and should allow two hours for the process.
Need to relax after the holidays? Consider enrolling in Stress Management, Yoga, or a Tai Chi class. Start planning for retirement by taking a Retirement Planning or Investments and Stock Market Basics class. Students can also work toward getting a GED certificate by registering for GED Test Preparation classes.
New classes added to the spring 2017 schedule include Awakening the Consciousness and Smartphone Photography. Short-term workshops will be offered in cupcake decorating and frosting. Favorites returning include Cultural Aspects of Food, Estate Planning, Ukrainian Egg Art, Spanish in the Workplace and Fruit Trees: Care and Pruning.
Community Education also offers career training and development certificates, classes in computers, digital photography, beekeeping, painting and drawing, cooking and baking arts, needle arts, vocational and business skills training, citizenship, landscaping, English as a Second Language, fitness and College for Kids. Fees apply to some classes.
The 2017 Film Festival is offered on Friday evenings during the Month of March. The films begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Forum, Room C-40. Selections include Winter in Wartime (March 3), Il Divo (The Divine) (March 10), Speedy (March 17), and Shower (Xizao) (March 31).
