The Bar Fire is now burning 30-50 acres according to Mike Eliason of Santa Barbara County Fire and the fire is burning between Venedito Canyon and Refugio Canyon. The offramp to Refugio State Beach is closed.
Evacuation orders for the Refugio area of Coal Canyon and the refinery have been downgraded to shelter in place, according to a tweet sent out by Santa Barbara County.
Fire crews are responding to reports of a vegetation fire labeled the Bar Fire burning in Refugio Canyon Wednesday afternoon.
The fire was called in around 4:30 p.m. north of Highway 101, one mile up Refugio Canyon, according to Santa Barbara County Fire.
The fire is currently about 10-20 acres and growing in heavy fuel, the cause of the fire was unknown. There are homes in the area that are being threatened, although no information if any have been damaged. Aircrafts are being diverted from the Rey Fire to assist.
