Staff Report
The Santa Barbara Zoo has announced a phased approach to safely reopening its doors to the community. After being closed to guests since mid-March, the zoo will reopen to the general public on Tuesday, June 23, by online reservation only.
Before the official reopening, the zoo will hold a soft opening for members June 20-22, also by online reservation only. The soft opening with zoo members will help zoo staff observe high-traffic areas, traffic patterns and make adjustments as needed.
Following guidelines set by the state and county, the zoo has implemented a number of safety enhancements and modifications to protect the health and safety of all guests, staff, and animals. To properly manage the number of guests in the park, online reservations will be required for both paid guests and zoo members.
Guests can use the online reservation system to book a timed entry slot prior to visiting the zoo. A complete guide to the new safety enhancements and modifications can be found on the zoo’s website, https://www.sbzoo.org/.

The zoo is also accepting registrations for Summer Zoo Camp which runs June 22–Aug. 14. Zoo Camp is open to children ages 3–12. There are three camp options including Camp in a Box, FamCamp, and traditional Zoo Camp. For more information and to register, visit https://www.sbzoo.org/learn/zoo-camp/.
