Buellton resident Monte Larsen will receive a special proclamation for his service in the military during the Buellton City Council meeting on Thursday evening. Larsen is most known for his business Monte’s Auto Body, but he grew up in the Santa Ynez Valley, and served in the Vietnam War as as a radioman on a Patrol Craft Fast Swift Boat (PCF)-36 from 1967 to ’68.
Larsen is also actively involved with the American Legion and Veteran’s of Foreign Wars and can be seen at military events throughout the valley helping out.
Other topics to be discussed at the council meeting will be presentations from Visit the Santa Ynez Valley on their efforts to increase tourism in the area and promoting Buellton as a destination place, as well as reports on the Tajiguas Resource Recovery Project, including the permit status and potential financial ramifications to the City of Buellton.
There will also be consideration on amending the contract with Ravatt Albrecht & Associates, for design work associated with the Avenue of Flags Specific Plan. The initial contract was for $30,000 and there has been additional design work to enhance the specific plan to make the document very user friendly for the public and development community. The increased cost would up the contract to $43,200.
The meeting will start at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers at 140 West Highway 246.
