Ridley-Tree Cancer Center at Sansum Clinic welcomes healthcare executive Matthew Baumann as its vice president of oncology services.

Baumann joins Ridley-Tree from the Miami Cancer Institute (MCI), an entity within Baptist Health South Florida (BHSF), where he served as an executive leader responsible for Oncology Operations.

“I am excited to lead this incredible team, and am so proud to be part of an institution with such tremendous history and commitment to patient care,” Baumann said.

Baumann is a healthcare executive whose approach to problem solving and leadership is rooted in military planning and strategy.

Prior to his more recent work in healthcare, he spent seven years as an infantry leader in the United States Marine Corps (USMC). During this time, he led several infantry units and deployed to Afghanistan and southeast Asia. Departing as a Marine captain, Baumann thrived in both front line and technical acquisitions roles. This technical and operational military experience shaped the thought processes and approach that drives his decision making today.

Baumann received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in business administration from the University of Central Florida (UCF). He expects to graduate as a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from Florida International University in 2022, with research focused on leadership effectiveness and employee engagement.
