More than 500 acres have burned in the Rey Fire near Paradise Road between Santa Ynez Valley and Santa Barbara, according to fire officials.

The fire started Thursday afternoon just before 3 p.m. near the White Rock Campgrounds, said Mike Eliason of Santa Barbara County Fire. He added there are several structures threatened and it is growing at a fast rate.

Highway 154 has been closed at Highway’s 246 on the Santa Ynez side, and 192 on the Santa Barbara side, according to Caltrans officials.

The Los Prietos Boys Camp and campgrounds in the area of Paradise Road are being evacuated and fire officials are asking anyone who does not need to be in the San Marcos Pass area to stay away. More crews and aircrafts have been ordered to help combat this fire, according to Eliason.

The last time the area burned was the White Fire in 2013.
