The City of Solvang is looking for applicants for their new Branding and Design Committee (BDC), which replaces the former Board of Architectural Review that was axed in March.
The City asks that all qualified applicants apply, with a priority filing deadline of August 17. Applications will be submitted to the City Council for first review and appointment consideration, at the first Regular Meeting of the Solvang City Council following the priority filing deadline.
If the City does not receive the required number of qualified applicants or if the City Council elects to extend the deadline to seek additional candidates, a new filing deadline will be publicly posted. BDC Meetings will be held on the second Thursday of each month starting at 6:00 PM. BDC members will be compensated $100 per meeting.
The following qualifications apply for BDC members:
- Members of the Committee shall have demonstrated interest in, and knowledge of, architectural history, architecture, local history, or fields related to historic preservation, construction, planning, geography, landscape architecture, urban design, Danish culture, arts, or real estate.
- The Committee shall be comprised of three (3) professional members from the following combined fields: architecture, design, architectural history, urban design, and Danish culture. The remaining two (2) public members may represent any of the related fields noted above.
- All members shall be residents of the Santa Ynez Valley.
