The Rey Fire has consumed more than 1,000 acres and 20 percent contained since igniting yesterday afternoon, according to Santa Barbara County Fire officials.

The fire started Thursday afternoon just before 3 p.m. near the White Rock Campgrounds, said Mike Eliason of Santa Barbara County Fire.

Highway 154 was closed at Highway’s 246 on the Santa Ynez side, and 192 on the Santa Barbara side, until about 9 p.m. last night. Paradise road is still closed at this time, according to Caltrans officials.
