Imagine, never paying for gasoline again.

That’s the word from one who knows: James Reach of the Los Padres Chapter Sierra Club drives an all-electric Tesla Model S with Autopilot and loves to say, “I love that quick acceleration and quiet ride.”

Come see, touch and explore all kinds of electric vehicles from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept 10, at Solvang’s Centennial Plaza parking lot off Alisal Road.

People can connect with knowledgeable owners who will explain the benefits of owning vehicles that run clean with zero tailpipe emissions, almost no maintenance, outstanding performance and range.

The event, celebrating national Drive Electric Week, features owners showing both all-electric and plug-in hybrids; no dealers will take part. Vehicles featured include Tesla Models S P85D and X, BMW i3, Chevy Spark, Mercedes Benz B Class and Nissan Leaf, among others.

“Once you start driving an all-electric vehicle you will never go back again to a conventional gas-powered car,” Reach said. “Year after year the range limitations and performance of these vehicles keeps getting better and now utility companies offer special rates and features at home for the EV users.”
