See what traveling to Cuba will be like with the Solvang Chamber of Commerce at the Solvang Senior Center from 4 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 08.
Linda Johansen, travel planner extraordinaire and Marlene Klamt are at it again!  Linda has a video on her travels to Cuba last winter, which proceeds went to the Chamber. The Solvang Senior Center will show this movie on at 4 p.m. with the Chamber mixer will follow with Cuban food, music and drinks. There will also be Salsa Dancing with a free lesson from Marlene Klamt and Landa Parisi.
Join as they cross a cultural divide, exploring the art, history and culture of the Cuban people. Johansen developed an understanding of who they are when meeting with local shop keepers, musicians, choral singers, dancers, factory workers and more.  She spends time at a retirement community, the ‘grandparents party’ and listening to them sing, dance and play music.  The group road a steam train through the sugar cane fields to the charming city of Remedios. See the group in the colonial feel of Cienfuegos, ‘La Perla del Sur’ or Pearl of the South. Johansen travels took her to historic cathedrals and colonial homes on city tours with a local guide. Johansen and her group traveled through much of the city’s architecture in Old Havana.
Linda’s trip proceeds support both the Solvang Chamber and Atterdag Village!
“Thank you to Linda and her travel friends for giving back to our Solvang Community,” said Tracey Beard, executive directory of the Solvang Chamber of Commerce.
