Santa Ynez Valley painter Peggy Brierton will be donating 10 percent of her artist reception proceeds to People Helping People (PHP) and the Buellton Senior Center from 2 – 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4, at Alma Rosa Tasting Room in Buellton.

Her paintings in the series of “Tranquil Waters” will be featured at the tasting room through January 2017. Her work captures the serene beauty of California’s coastline and inland valleys. Space, light and color are a few of the things she uses to capture the viewers interest.

Brierton is primarily a self taught artist. With the use of acrylic paint and working with palette knives and brushes, Peggy’s work shows attention to “open air ” scenes. Working on canvas and paper gives her the opportunity to achieve the results she wants. Brierton is a member of the Santa Barbara Art Association and the Artists Guild of the Santa Ynez Valley. She has her studio and gallery Zaca Creek Art Gallery located at 91 Second Street in Buellton.

Founded in 1992, PHP is a non-profit charity serving the Santa Ynez Valley, Los Alamos Valley, and the Gaviota Coast. PHP’s mission is to “improve the lives of men, women, and children by addressing emergency and basic needs, furnishing comprehensive integrated family and individual support services, and acting as a catalyst for positive community change.”
